We have again elected Donald Trump. There’s much speculation about what that will lead to over the next few years. We have heard about big changes in several critical areas. He claims the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 has not influenced those plans but both emphasize loyalty in filling important positions. His Cabinet picks so far bear that out. Their oath of office doesn’t mention the President but it does require defending the Constitution against all enemies everywhere. It’s hard to believe that requirement will not come into conflict with loyalty to him at some point. That was clearly displayed on January 6 of 2021. From the moment the first blow was struck, those actions were outside the Constitutional wall that protects our country. On that day and at that time there were enemies of the Constitution and the country trying to accomplish by force what Trump could not accomplish in the courts. As President he watched for hours before exercising his duty to defend the Constitutionally mandated process underway. Upon his return to that office, I doubt we should expect different behavior.
